Overview

Overseeing the implementation, and maintenance of the organization's Application infrastructure using middleware technologies Jboss, Tomcat and F5 load balancer.

Application Engineer is responsible for maintenance of the organization's Application infrastructure using Jboss & Tomcat. This role involves managing and ensuring the stability, security, and efficiency of Application infrastructure Platform.

Responsibilities

Application Infrastructure:

1. ⁠Configure and Manage Application infrastructure (Jboss, Tomcat, WebSphere, DNS & F5 Load Balancer).

2. Troubleshooting and scripting skills to improve the availability, and capacity of Application Services.

3. Ensure Application infrastructure security, compliance, and governance.

 

 Automation:

1. Implement DevOps practices (CI/CD, automation, monitoring). Docker, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Chef, Splunk, Jira, Nagios.

2. ⁠Maintain and troubleshoot scripts for automation (Python/PowerShell/Bash).

 

Application Support:

1. Collaborate with developers and L3 team to ensure seamless application deployment/support.

2. Troubleshoot Application issues & Outages.

3. Optimize Application performance and scalability. Conduct regular security assessments and audits to identify and mitigate potential risks.

Security and Compliance:

1.Maintain security measures to protect the organization’s infrastructure from threats and vulnerabilities.

2.Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, standards, and best practices.

3. Conduct regular security audits and vulnerability assessments.

 

Monitoring and Optimization:

1. Monitor Application Infrastructure (cost, performance, utilization).

2. Implement monitoring tools (Splunk, Dynatrace, Nagios).

 

Incident and Problem Management:

  • Oversee the resolution of infrastructure-related incidents and problems, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations. Remedy,Jira and IPcenter.
  • Act as an escalation point for complex issues and coordinate with other teams to resolve them promptly.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for recurring issues and implement corrective actions to prevent future occurrences.

Documentation and Training:

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, procedures, and policies.
  • Provide training and support to team members and other IT staff on infrastructure-related topics.
  • Promote best practices and knowledge sharing within the team.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with the latest trends, technologies, and best practices in IT infrastructure.
  • Identify opportunities for optimizing infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost-efficiency.

Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the overall infrastructure and support business objectives

Qualifications

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 4-7 years of experience in Middleware technologies.
    • Proven experience in managing and maintaining complex IT infrastructure environments.
    • Strong background in Servers, and Unix.
  • Skills:
    • Good knowledge on application server Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere.
    • Hands-on knowledge on Unix Commands and Tomcat is must.
    • Good knowledge on F5 load balancer (F5 Vserver, F5 pools, F5 routing at Datacenter level).
    • Knowledge of DNS concepts and Apache.
    • Good knowledge on Cert Management, Cert configuration on middleware components.
    • knowledge of monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Education:
    • Educational Qualification: BE/ B.tech (Computer/ Electronics Or equivalent)/ MCA

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Middleware Technologies (e.g., Tomcat, JBoss, Websphere & F5)
  • Familiarity with ITIL framework and best practices for service delivery and support.
