The Product & Service Design function sets the standards for service design and ensures that all products and services are strategically conceived, consistently designed, and technically feasible, delivering measurable value to customers and aligning with the organisation’s long-term vision, architecture, and innovation agenda. In essence, the function acts as the bridge between strategy, customer needs, and technical delivery.

 

The Service Design Portfolio Programme Manager works closely with the Product Manager from early ideation through to delivery. Once a new service or product has been approved by the Executive Team, this role takes ownership of leading the end-to-end service design project. This includes coordinating with the practises, ops & delivery, marketing, and the sales functions to shape the finalised service offering and ensure all components are aligned for successful go to market execution.

Responsibilities

  • Partnering with the Product Manager during early-stage development to ensure design feasibility and alignment with delivery capabilities.
  • Following executive approval, lead the full lifecycle of the service design project managing the transition from concept to market ready solution.
  • Define programme objectives, deliverables, and key milestones aligned with business goals and customer needs.
  • Develop detailed project plans, resource allocation strategies, and risk management processes.
  • Coordinate execution across cross functional teams, including aligned practises, service delivery, operations, marketing, customer success, and sales.
  • Responsible for the business communications for the service(s) during the lifecycle of development.
  • Ensure comprehensive service documentation is developed such as Service Descriptions, datasheets, pricing models, onboarding guides, and delivery runbooks.
  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to ensure services meet operational, financial, and customer experience standards.
  • Manage resource planning, budget tracking, and risk mitigation throughout the service design and launch process.
  • Facilitate regular projects meetings to monitor progress, resolve issues, and drive alignment.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders providing regular updates, managing expectations, and handling escalations.
  • Manage and prioritise multiple projects within the service portfolio, adapting to changes in scope and business priorities.
  • Work with customer stakeholders to ensure services meet specific requirements and expectations.
  • Lead continuous service improvement initiatives post launch, leveraging performance data and feedback.
  • Conduct post-delivery evaluations to assess outcomes, capture lessons learned, and drive process improvement.
  • Provide comprehensive reporting to senior stakeholders, including progress updates, financial tracking, and KPI performance.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience in service portfolio/programme management, preferably with a focus on services, PMP/PMI certification is a plus.
  • Proven track record of managing and delivering complex, cross-functional service or product delivery programmes within a service-oriented business.
  • Demonstrable ability to collaborate across functional boundaries, particularly with product management, delivery, sales, and marketing.
  • Strong project management skills with experience in planning, scheduling, and resource management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across departments & stakeholders at all levels.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to change.
  • Demonstrate organisational leadership skill across multi-functional teams.
  • Familiarity with project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Asana, Smartsheet).
  • Knowledge of service management frameworks (e.g., ITIL, Six Sigma).
